The school offers both the 8-4-4 system and the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) 2-6-6-3 education system—that is, 2 yrs (pre-primary), 6 yrs (primary), and 6yrs (Junior Secondary School) that is intended to provide every learner with seamless, competency based high quality learning that values every learner. The school is currently at a transition stage for both curriculum with plans to enhance infrastructure to provide Junior Secondary School level programs.
MEC provides holistic education to the pupils. The class sizes are small (25 – 30 pupils) and, taught by highly experienced and qualified members of staff. We prepare the children to do their best academically, following a rigorous curriculum. Parents are also involved in pupil’s learning on “a daily basis” and, through “open days” for the entire school and specific classes and, assisting the pupils to set person goals and track progress towards their achievement. We all strive to improve on all aspects of the quality of education so that the children enrolled at the school achieve recognisable and measurable learning outcomes especially in numeracy, literacy, and essential life skills. All through, the pupils are guided to explore their own unique preferences and, academic aptitudes in a harmonious environment in which the child, and not the system, is central.
All learners are expected to begin their education at this level at the age of four years. It is a two-year program comprising the following activities: Language, environmental, mathematics, psychomotor, creative and religious.
The learners from Pre-Primary 2 will join lower primary in grade 1 at about 6 years of age and spend 3 years in this part of Early Years Education before exiting to middle school at the end of grade 3.
Upper primary is part of middle school. It is a three-year program where learners are exposed to a broad curriculum and given an opportunity for exploration and experimentation.
At this level, a broad-based curriculum is offered to enable the learner to explore their own interests and potential as a basis for choosing subjects according to career paths of interest at senior level.
